Team STEPPS Training Offered to Oklahoma Hospitals

TeamSTEPPS was developed by the Department of Defense (DoD) in collaboration with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

TeamSTEPPS is an evidence-based teamwork system aimed at optimizing patient outcomes by improving communication and other teamwork skills among health care professionals. It includes a comprehensive set of ready-to-use materials and training curricula to help integrate teamwork principles successfully into your health care system.

The focus of the TeamSTEPPS program centers around building highly effective teams among diverse healthcare professionals. Applying TeamSTEPPS will help to achieve transformational improvement in core measures, including but not limited to:

  • MRSA prevention and reduction
  • Surgical Care Improvement Project
  • Reducing 30-Day Mortality
  • Prevention of Pressure Ulcers in both Hospitals and Nursing Homes
  • Decrease use of Restraints
  • Management of Diabetes
  • Prevention of Hospital Readmission
  • Fall Prevention
  • Care Coordination across healthcare transitions
  • Preventive Services
  • Reducing Disparities

OFMQ staff will offer TeamSTEPPS training to hospitals in the near future.
