Practice Cultural Quality

Practice Cultural Quality is a statewide initiative sponsored by OFMQ. Through an online training program developed by the Office of Minority Health, physicians learn about the impact of cultural and ethnic influences on health care delivery and how to improve communication, treatment and outcomes.

Language barriers and cultural differences increase challenges for providers to make diagnoses, explain care options and health education, and convince patients to comply with a treatment regimen they may not understand. The Practice Cultural Quality initiative is designed to increase knowledge and skills for more effectively treating patients of diverse cultural backgrounds.

Practice Cultural Quality training:

  • Provides up to 9 hours of CME credit, at no charge
  • Is endorsed by the American Medical Association (see letter of endorsement here),the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Physicians
  • Is available online and can be taken anytime
  • Is supported with expert resources from OFMQ, at no charge
