Oklahoma Pediatrics Clinic First in Nation to Receive EHR Incentive Payment
On Feb. 23, the Children’s Clinic in Muskogee became the nation’s first pediatrics practice to be awarded Medicaid EHR meaningful use incentive funds. The practice received $85,000, one of the country’s largest meaningful use incentive payments so far in 2011.
The Children’s Clinic has been working with OFMQHIT through the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality since May 2010. OFMQHIT is the HIT Regional Extension Center for Oklahoma, a federally funded program that helps healthcare providers select and successfully implement certified EHR technology, all the way to reaching meaningful use objectives. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority is the payment administrator for the Medicaid portion of the state program.
"We congratulate Children's Clinic in this accomplishment,” said Jonathan Kolarik, director for health information technology with OFMQ. "As the Regional Extension Center providing technical support to help the clinic meet the incentive requirements, we recognize their enthusiasm and commitment to moving health information technology forward and improving health care in Oklahoma."
