National Nursing Home Week

May 11-17

Established in 1967 by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) as a special week for residents, caregivers, families, staff and volunteers to honor and celebrate nursing facility life.

This year’s theme is “Love is Ageless”, marking a perfect time to visit your loved ones, friends, and neighbors. If you are unable to visit, make a phone call, send a card, flowers or even an email--this special attention will make someone’s day.

Nursing homes and affiliated organizations should visit the AHCA website for ideas for activities, community outreach and promotional items.

OFMQ would like to acknowledge nursing homes in Oklahoma who have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality of care for their residents. In the past three years, our nursing home partners reduced the use of physical restraints among residents by 24 percent and improved pressure ulcers (bed sores) by 21 percent. We have also worked to improve resident and staff satisfaction, increase workforce retention and create a culture of quality in Oklahoma’s nursing homes. We applaud this effort and encourage your continued focus on improving the quality of care and quality of life for our seniors.
