The right care for every person every time.

For Health Care Consumers

Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality is the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) contracted through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  In this role, we work with health care providers to ensure that Oklahoma's more than 500,000 Medicare beneficiaries receive the best possible care.  We work with nursing homes, home health agencies, hospitals, doctors and managed care plans to ensure that care for beneficiaries meets clinical standards and guidelines.  We also promote healthy living through outreach efforts which aim to increase the use of preventive services such as flu shots and mammograms.  We also educate Medicare beneficiaries of their patient rights and options, because informed consumers make better choices about their health care.

Our Services

OFMQ's Beneficiary Helpline - We assist Medicare beneficiaries who feel their rights under Medicare have been denied and/or are concerned about the quality of care they have received.

Review Services - OFMQ can help you if you or a loved one has Medicare and you:

  • were denied admission to a hospital
  • wish to file a complaint about the quality of care you received in a hospital, emergency department, skilled nursing home, rehabilitation center, doctor's office or home health agency
  • were told to leave the hospital before you felt well enough

Healthcare Quality Improvement - OFMQ is involved with a number of health care quality improvement projects that are important to Oklahoma's Medicare beneficiaries.  We provide consulting and resources to help providers give better preventive care and treatment for heart attack and heart failure, diabetes, breast cancer, surgical care, pneumonia, influenza, depression, pain and many other health care topics.

Information for Healthy Living - We encourage beneficiaries to take control of their health care and get involved in decision making with their healthcare providers.  This website provides beneficiaries with important information on living healthy and provides resources to help you be a more informed health care consumer.
