Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE)

Computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems allow providers to electronically prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests, including labs, radiology, and diagnostic procedures. These systems can reduce mistakes associated with handwritten instructions and can help prevent dosage errors by limiting the range of appropriate dosages. The system also allows providers to receive and track test results electronically. OFMQ assists hospitals throughout Oklahoma use technology to improve care delivery.
