Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed non-skin cancer in women and the second leading cause of cancer death for women in the United States. Periodic screening mammography has been shown to help save lives by detecting breast cancer early, when it is most treatable. Timely screening can reduce breast cancer mortality in women 40 and older by 20% to 35% (CDC).
OFMQ's Quality Improvement Specialists work with physicians throughout Oklahoma to increase mammography rates for Medicare beneficiaries through education and training using evidence-based medicine. We offer a number of provider-directed tools and self-management tools for patients.
