8th Annual Rural Hospital Conference

The 8th Annual Rural Hospital Conference is at no cost for rural hospital employees to attend. The conference kicks off April 12 with a golf tournament at Coffee Creek in Edmond, followed by two days of educational sessions guaranteed to offer a unique experience for hospital attendees. The education received this year will be critical, timely and relevant. Due to the looming date for attaining meaningful use of health information technology in order to take full advantage of incentives, attendees will leave the conference understanding:

— the reason for the push for application of technology in hospital settings
— the difference in an electronic health record system and a health information
   system and how they interact
— the basic concepts of "meaningful use"
— the critical need to involve all disciplines in decisions involving EMR use

You will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations of particular products that work well in rural hospitals in a small setting with little pressure. Vendor classes will take place on Tuesday, April 13th. Attendees will need to sign up for vendor presentations in advance. Click the link below to register.

Each year we strive to improve this conference and are using your feedback to develope this year's agenda. In response to a recent survey from the OSU Center for Rural Health, hospitals listed an important area needing assistance with decisions in application and acquisition within their facility. We hope to address this, answer many of your questions, and help you continue with confidence down the road to full implementation of HIT.

In addition to our enhanced program, the conference will be held at the beautiful Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown Hotel only a block and a half from Oklahoma City's historic Bricktown and Bricktown Canal. We have had nearly 200 attendees and 50 hospitals represented at past conferences and would like to increase that number this year. Please arrange for as many different disciplines and departments to attend the conference this year as you can. All demonstrations will be at no cost and as always there is no cost for rural hospital employees to attend the conference.

Free Wi-Fi will be available throughout the conference and vendor area.
